What is BS EN 13274‑7- Determination of particle filter penetration in respiratory protective devices about?
BS EN 13274 discusses respiratory protective devices. BS EN 13274‑7 is an international standard on the determination of particle filter penetration in respiratory protective devices to protect the wearer from inhaling hazardous air.
BS EN 13274‑7 is the seventh part of a multi-part series that specifies the procedure for testing particle filter penetration for respiratory protective devices. BS EN 13274‑7 is intended as a supplement to the specific device standards for respiratory protective devices.
Who is BS EN 13274‑7- Determination of particle filter penetration in RPD for?
BS EN 13274‑7 on the determination of particle filter penetration in respiratory protective devices is useful for:
- Respiratory protective devices manufacturers
- Respiratory protective devices testers
- Health and safety departments
- Safety engineers
- Pulmonologists
Why should you use BS EN 13274‑7- Determination of particle filter penetration in RPD?
Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is a particular type of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), used to protect the individual wearer against the inhalation of hazardous substances in the workplace air.
BS EN 13274‑7 provides you with the sodium chloride and paraffin oil test method and test requirements to determine the particle filter efficiency for respiratory protective devices by testing the particle filter penetration.
The test methods specified under BS EN 13274-7 assist you to improve the performance of the RPE and decrease the risk of injury to the wearer due to breathing contaminated or oxygen-deficient air.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN 13274‑7:2019 supersedes EN 13274‑7:2008, which is withdrawn. BS EN 13274‑7:2019 has made some technical changes. These include:
- Test equipment for sodium chloride test and test conditions clarified and summarized in one subclause
- Procedure for sodium chloride test revised. calculation of the penetration for sodium chloride revised
- Test equipment for paraffin oil test and test conditions clarified and summarized in one subclause
- Procedure for paraffin oil test revised
- Figures adapted to the changes made in the test procedures, where appropriate
