What is BS EN 14243-3 - End-of-life tyres about ?
BS EN 14243 series discusses materials obtained from the end-of-life tyres. BS EN 14243-3 is the first part of a series of documents and an international standard for materials obtained from end-of-life tyres.
BS EN 14243-3 provides test methods for the determination of the dimension(s) of shreds, cuts and chips (including protruding filaments) produced from all categories of end-of-life tyres at all steps of the treatment processes.
Who is BS EN 14243-3 - End-of-life tyres for ?
BS EN 14243-3 on materials obtained from end-of-life tyres is applicable to:
- Tyre recycling industries
- Tyre manufacturers
- Tyre remoulding industries
- Testing laboratories
Why should you use BS EN 14243-3 - End-of-life tyres ?
When a tyre is no longer safe or efficient to reuse, even if re-treaded, it is referred to as an "end-of-life tyre" that is waste and must be collected and recovered in specific factories, as well as for material recycling.
BS EN 14243-3 helps in using primary shredding for producing the shreds, cuts and chips materials. The principle of sampling is useful in obtaining appropriate samples from a lot by determining the characteristics of a sample.
BS EN 14243-3 is helpful in determining the increments and calculates their average. The different maximum projected lengths are measured to determine the characteristics of the distribution of the pieces of the test portion. LDF and HDF dimensions are used in identifying and calculating the limits of the seven classes of the same width of end of life tyres.
BS EN 14243-3 specifies the test procedures, test methods that are useful in conducting the test. These methods help in determining the dimensions of shreds, cuts and chips from end-of-life tyres.
