What is BS EN 144‑1-Inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for respiratory protective devices (RPD) about?
BS EN 144 discusses connections for gas cylinder valves for respiratory protective devices (RPD). BS EN 144‑1 is an international standard on the inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for RPD to improve the efficacy of RPD.
BS EN 144‑1 is the first part of a multi-part series that specifies the dimensions and tolerances as well as the impact resistance and marking requirements of inlet connections for connecting cylinder valves to gas cylinders for RPD.
Who is BS EN 144‑1-Inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for RPD for?
BS EN 144‑1 on inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for RPD is useful for:
- RPD manufacturers
- Inlet connections for gas cylinder valves manufacturers
- RPD testing laboratories/test personnel
- Occupational health and safety department
Why should you use BS EN 144‑1-Inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for RPD?
Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is a form of personal protective equipment designed to protect the wearer from a variety of airborne hazards in the form of gas, fume, mist, dust, or vapor. Respirators filter the air to remove harmful particles and alongside the breathing apparatus (BA) provides clean air for the worker to breathe.
BS EN 144‑1 provide you with dimensional and tolerance requirements, impact resistance, testing, marking for inlet connections for gas cylinder valves for RPD
The dimension and requirements provided by BS EN 144‑1 assist in improving the performance of RPD and ensure protection to the wearer against the inhalation of hazardous substances in the workplace air.
By adopting BS EN 144‑1the user can enhance the quality of RPD and help produce a product of high quality and standard.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN 144‑1:2018 supersedes EN 144‑1:2000, which is withdrawn. BS EN 144‑1:2018 has made some technical changes compared to previous editions BS EN 144‑1:2018. These include:
- Title changes to read “Respiratory protective devices — Gas cylinder valves — Part 1: Inlet connections” to be in line with Part 2 and Part 3
- Addition of terms and definition
- Normative references EN ISO 11363‑1 and EN ISO 15245‑1 added to replace Clause 2 “Connection on insert connector”
- Clause 3 “Impact resistance” adapted to the test specified in EN ISO 10297:2014, Annex A
