What is BS EN 15207 - Service equipment characteristics for transport tank about?
BS EN 15207 is a European standard that specifies the interoperability requirements for the tractor/trailer and/or transport tank/trailer plug/socket for the use in hazardous areas, being:
- The connection used for the supply Type A and supply Type S electrical power to service equipment
- The supply characteristics for each operating mode
This plug/socket combination includes provisions for future connections including data transfer.
The plug/socket connection is not used for purposes that are specified in other standards for truck – trailer connections e.g. ISO 12098 and ISO 7638-1.
Who is BS EN 15207 - Service equipment characteristics for transport tank for?
BS EN 15207 on service equipment characteristics for transport tank is useful for:
- The electrical power industry
- Inspection officers
- Electrical safety department
- The transportation industry
- Electrical equipment manufacturers
Why should you use BS EN 15207 - Service equipment characteristics for transport tank?
A plug/socket connection will prevent the users from any electric shock while using the service equipment in hazardous areas. If there is any serious fault on the equipment, it also makes the fuse blow, hence protecting the user.
BS EN 15207 provides its manufacturers with guidelines for design and power supply characteristics, requirements for operation in hazardous areas, pin use restrictions, and safety and preventive measures for smooth operations in hazardous areas. Using BS EN 15207 guidelines ensures safety and protection, and routine assessments for protected electrical equipment and electric sockets.
What’s changed since the last update?
