What is BS EN 15216 about?
BS EN 15216 on environmental solid matrices specifies a method to determine the total dissolved solids (TDS) in water and eluates. This is, provided they are not volatile under the conditions specified or that they do not release water molecules from hydration.
Note: BS EN 15216 applies to water and eluates containing more than 100 mg/l of total dissolved solids. Samples with lower amounts of dissolved solids can be analyzed by repetition of the drying step.
Who is BS EN 15216 for?
BS EN 15216 on environmental solid matrices (TDS in water) is useful for:
- Water supply divisions
- Water treatment plant officials
- Hydrologists
- Regulatory bodies that monitor water quality
Why should you use BS EN 15216?
TDS is a common sum parameter that is in use in water analysis and the analysis of eluates.
Performance characteristics in BS EN 15216 for the determination of TDS in water and eluates help you to identify the overall drinking water quality. BS EN 15216 guides you on how to identify the presence of various chemical contaminants in drinking water.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 15216:2021 supersedes EN 15216:2007.
In comparison with EN 15216:2007, the following technical modification has been made:
- Textual changes to clarify the procedure after a third weighing and in case of observed inhomogeneity
