What is BS EN 15415-1 - Determination of particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels about?
BS EN 15415-1 specifies the determination of particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels by a machine or manual sieving method. It applies to particulate agglomerated and non-agglomerated fuels, such as fluff, pellets, briquettes, pulverized solid recovered fuels.
This sieving method is not applicable to large pieces with an irregular shape such as the pieces of shredded tyres or of demolition wood. In the case, of large pieces of irregular shape, prEN 15415-2 and prEN 15415-3 are applicable.
Note 1: For fine particles < 1 mm (e.g. sludges), the use of other methods could give more representative results as e.g. an analysis with the laser diffraction method in accordance with ISO 13320.
Note 2: BS EN 15415-1is based on EN 15149-1 applicable to particle sizes less than 3,15 mm.
Who is BS EN 15415-1 - Determination of particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels for?
BS EN 15415-1 on the determination of particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels is useful for:
- Suppliers and consumers of solid recovered fuels
- Research institutes/ academia
- Solid recovered fuels industry
- Testing laboratories
Why should you use BS EN 15415-1 - Determination of particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels?
BS EN 15415-1 provides you guidance on sorting the particles in decreasing size classes either manually or machine sieving.
BS EN 15415-1 also guides you on sampling and sample preparation, also enabls you to report results of the size distribution analysis.
Overall, helps you determine particle size distribution of solid recovered fuels with accuracy and precision.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 15415-1:2011 supersedes CEN/TS 15415:2006. BS EN 15415-1:2011 includes some changes with respect to CEN/TS 15415:2006. These include:
- Large pieces with irregular shape definitely excluded from the scope
- Whole document editorially revised
