What is BS EN 1562 - Malleable cast irons about?
BS EN 1562 is a European standard on founding that discusses test methods of malleable cast iron. BS EN 1562 defines grades and corresponding requirements for malleable cast irons and specifies five grades of whiteheart malleable cast iron and nine grades of blackheart malleable cast iron, based on mechanical properties measured on cast samples.
Who is BS EN 1562 - Malleable cast irons for?
BS EN 1562 on malleable cast irons is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of malleable cast iron
- Metallurgist
Why should you use BS EN 1562 - Malleable cast irons?
Malleable cast iron is white cast iron that has been annealed Through an annealing heat treatment, the brittle structure as the first cast is transformed into the malleable form Therefore, its composition is very similar to that of white cast iron, with slightly higher amounts of carbon and silicon.
BS EN 1562 provides guidance on tensile strength and elongation, proof strength, Brinell hardness, impact energy, cast samples, test methods, tensile test, heat treatment of samples, and castings.
As a user of BS EN 1562, you can be ensured of grades of malleable cast iron based on its mechanical properties. With obedience and compliance to BS EN 1562, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality malleable cast iron. With BS EN 1562 you can be ensured of every test method which helps you in improving the quality of malleable cast iron.
