What is BS EN 15655‑2 about?
BS EN 15655‑2 is the second part of a series of documents on ductile iron pipes, fittings, and accessories. BS EN 15655‑2 specifies the requirements and test methods applicable to factory-applied internal lining made of thermoplastic acid-modified polyolefin (TMPO) for the heavy-duty corrosion protection of ductile iron pipes conforming to EN 545, EN 598, and EN 969. BS EN 15655‑2 also applies to pipes with only socket and spigot ends coated with TMPO. Fittings and accessories are covered separately by EN 14901‑2.
Who is BS EN 15655‑2 for?
BS EN 15655‑2 on ductile iron pipes, fittings, and accessories is beneficial for
- Manufacturer of ductile iron pipes, fittings, and accessories
- Producer of thermoplastic acid-modified polyolefin (TMPO)
Why should you use BS EN 15655‑2?
Pipelining is a way to restore the pipe from corrosion, leaks, or cracks from roots. Pipelining also increases the life span of a piping system.
BS EN 15655‑2 provide information on technical requirements like surface preparation.
finished TMPO lining, appearance, and continuity, minimum lining thickness, performance requirements, test methods, quality assurance required to apply internal lining made of thermoplastic acid-modified polyolefin (TMPO) for the heavy-duty corrosion protection of ductile iron pipes.
As the user of BS EN 15655‑2, you get information on how to apply internal lining made of thermoplastic acid-modified polyolefin (TMPO) on iron pipes which protect the pipe from corrosion and minimize the risk of leakage and contamination. As a result, BS EN 15655‑2 takes into account the safety and protection of the product end-user while also prolonging the service life of ductile iron pipes and fittings.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 15655‑2:2020 together with BS EN 15655‑1:2018, it supersedes BS EN 15655:2009, which is withdrawn.
The main change to EN 15655:2009 is:
- EN 15655 has been split into two parts. This part covers the thermoplastic acid-modified polyolefin lining of pipes
