What is BS EN 15755-1 - Polymeric filmed glass about?
BS EN 15755-1 is a European Standard. BS EN 15755-1 defines the characteristics, properties, and classification of adhesive-backed polymeric filmed glass, i.e., glass product that has had an adhesive-backed polymeric film applied, for use in buildings. The adhesive-backed polymeric film is based on the biaxially oriented polyester film as defined in EN 15752-1. This applies to both site and factory applications.
BS EN 15755-1 discusses scope, references, safety, security, tests, resistances, defects and a lot more topics in detail.
Note 1: BS EN 15755-1 applies to both site and factory applications.
Note 2: BS EN 15755-1 does not apply to adhesive-backed polymeric films manufactured using polyvinylchloride (PVC).
Who is BS EN 15755-1 - Polymeric filmed glass for?
BS EN 15755-1 on Polymeric filmed glass is useful for:
- Building engineers, constructors, and architects
- Entities involved in building research and development
- Property and buildings directorates
- Flat glass manufacturers
- Glass and glazing manufacturers
- Glass technologists
Why should you use BS EN 15755-1 - Polymeric filmed glass?
Adhesive backed polymeric filmed glass has properties and performance modified by the application of adhesive backed polymeric film. Polymeric filmed glass is useful for visual appeal. Polymeric filmed glass gives a frosted glass effect and is easy to use and is resistant to some substances. There are a number of different types of films that are manufactured to modify specific properties of glass. This includes solar energy transmittance, visible light transmittance, emissivity, Ultra-Violet transmittance, privacy, appearance, impact behaviour, security, electromagnetic frequency (EMF) attenuation, and surface protection.
BS EN 15755-1 guidelines can be used to ensure efficiency and better quality of polymeric filmed glass. BS EN 15755-1 defines the characteristics, properties and classification of adhesive backed polymeric filmed glass, i.e., glass product that has had an adhesive backed polymeric film applied, for use in buildings.
Compliance with BS EN 15755-1 assures maximum safety to the customers and helps in adhering to best industry practices.
