What is BS EN 15936 - Determining TOC by dry combustion about?
BS EN 15936 is a European Standard that particularly covers the determination of TOC by dry combustion. BS EN 15936 is applicable and validated for several types of matrices. The results are expressed in % C in relation to the dry mass (dm).
BS EN 15936 specifies two methods for the determination of total organic carbon (TOC) in sludge, treated biowaste, soil and waste samples containing more than 0,1 % carbon in relation to the dry mass (dm).
Note: BS EN 15936 also applies to other environmental solid matrices, provided the user has verified the applicability.
Who is BS EN 15936 - Determining TOC by dry combustion for?
BS EN BS EN 15936 on determining TOC by dry combustion is useful for:
- Waste management authorities
- Waste disposal and recycling plants
- Research laboratories
- Geologists
- Quality control personnel
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS EN 15936 - Determining TOC by dry combustion?
The dry combustion method is a widely used method for commercial soil analysis, to determine the volume of organic material in soil and waste.
BS EN 15936 discusses terms and definitions that depict a user-friendly idea of the dry combustion method. BS EN 15936 provides users with the test procedure which makes the process of waste classification simpler. The guidelines in BS EN 15936 help you with determining TOC by dry combustion enabling you to manage waste in a hygienic and secure way along with reducing the cost of the process.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 15936:2022 supersedes EN 15936:2012. BS EN 15936:2022 includes some technical changes with respect to EN 15936:2012. These include:
- The new composition of the substances in control mixture A (6.10) was defined and the recovery requirement (9.3) was adapted to the results of a lab trial
- Annex C – “Determination of total organic carbon (TOC) in solid samples using the suspension method” was skipped
- The text was editorially revised
