What is BS EN 1648-2 - Motor caravans about?
BS EN 1648 is a series of European standards on leisure accommodation vehicles that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for manufacturing high-quality 12 V direct current extra-low voltage electrical installations for motor caravans. BS EN 1648-2 is the second part of a series of documents on leisure accommodation vehicles. BS EN 1648-2 specifies safety, health, and functional requirements for 12 V direct current (DC) extra-low voltage (ELV) electrical installations for habitation aspects of motor caravans.
BS EN 1648-2 applies only to installations that are electrically connected with the electrical installation of the base vehicle or which can be electrically connected with it using change-over devices.
BS EN 1648-2 also specifies the ELV output requirements of low voltage (LV) equipment that may be used to provide an ELV supply but it does not specify safety, technical and functional requirements for LV appliances and installations. Requirements for LV installations are specified in HD 60364-7-721.
Who is BS EN 1648-2 - Motor caravans for?
BS EN 1648-1 on leisure accommodation vehicles is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of motor caravans
- Manufacturer of 12 V direct current (DC) extra-low voltage (ELV)
Why should you use BS EN 1648-2 - Motor caravans?
A Motorcaravan is a type of self-propelled recreational vehicle (RV) that offers mobile living accommodation. Extra-low voltage (ELV) is an electricity supply voltage and is a part of the Low voltage band in a range that carries a low risk of dangerous electrical shock.
BS EN 1648-2 navigates you through the power supply, wiring, connection to the electrical system of towing vehicle, overcurrent protection, cable installation, installation of appliances.
As a user of BS EN 1648-2, you can be ensured of safety, health, and functional requirements for 12 V direct current (DC) extra-low voltage (ELV) electrical installations. With obedience and compliance to BS EN 1648-2, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality extra-low voltage (ELV) electricity supply voltage that carries a low risk of dangerous electrical shock for motor caravans. BS EN 1648-2 helps you to build consumer trust and confidence in the product. With BS EN 1648-2 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets and safety, health, and functional requirements.
