What is BS EN 325 – Determination of dimensions of wood-based panels about?
BS EN 325 focuses on the performance of wood-based panels. The main aim of the BS EN 325 is to provide manufacturers with the test procedure that can help them determine the dimensions when subjected to varied environmental conditions.
BS EN 325 specifies a method for measuring the thickness, length and width of test pieces of wood-based panels.
Who is BS EN 325 - Determination of dimensions of wood-based panels for?
BS EN 325 on wood-based panels is useful for:
- Wood-based panels manufacturers
- Product designers
- Wood-based panels installers
- Quality control and testing authorities
Why should you use BS EN 325 - Determination of dimensions of wood-based panels?
An inherent feature of wood materials is the variability of their linear dimensions with changes in relative humidity. As roof sheathing or construction materials, wood panels are very often exposed not only to temperature changes, but also to changes in relative humidity; they can also be directly exposed to water. This is why there is a need to investigate the degree of the board deformations and their connection with less desirable mechanical properties or links to production-related factors.
BS EN 325 provides a dimensions test to check if the material maintains its original dimensions when subjected to changes in temperature and humidity. BS EN 325 can help you to classify the wood panels based on the properties of the wood panels subjected to the test. BS EN 325 can also help to ensure that your products can sustain the change in environmental conditions. BS EN 325 can make the user’s as well as the installer’s job easier while choosing the wood panels based on their requirements.
