What is BS EN 3646-004 - Product standard for jam-nut mounting receptacles about ?
BS EN 3646-004 is a European standard that specifies the characteristics of jam-nut mounted receptacles of the family of bayonet coupling circular connectors, intended for use in an operating temperature range of – 65 °C to 175 °C or 200 °C continuous.
BS EN 3646-004 applies to models defined in Table 4.
Who is BS EN 3646-004 - Product standard for jam-nut mounting receptacles for ?
BS EN 3646-004 on product standard for jam-nut mounting receptacles is applicable for:
- Spacecraft and space products manufacturers
- Aerospace and defence industries
- Design engineers for hermetic receptacles
- Quality control personnel for spacecraft products
Why should you use BS EN 3646-004 - Product standard for jam-nut mounting receptacles ?
Jam nut receptacles are a popular option for environmentally sealed electrical enclosures. They are tightened against each other instead of against the material, and they are about half the size of a regular nut.
Jam nut receptacles are designed for limited instrument space in the cockpits of spacecraft, jumbo jets, fighter jets, and ground vehicles. These receptacles allow for closer connection spacing. Also, since many electronic connections to instrument displays are behind the screen, jam nut receptacles reduce the effort required to install or service these devices.
The guidelines under BS EN 3646-004 assist you in selecting the right receptacles as well as a connector to improve the production process. If an electronic component fails, the failed component can be replaced when an electrical connector is installed.
As a design engineer, you can use the guidelines provided under BS EN 3646-004 to improve the functioning and use of electrical connectors and receptacles. You also get greater flexibility while designing and integrating new products and composing systems with components as well.
BS EN 3646-004 is structured such that the necessary level of quality is achieved, consistently maintained, and the high reliability of the product assured. With compliance and obedience to BS EN 3646-004, you can enhance the efficacy of jam-nut mounting receptacles and can demonstrate the reliability of their products and build trust in their use throughout the aerospace supply chain.
