What is BS EN 4552- Aerospace series: Inch series pipe couplings about?
BS EN 4552 is a standard that covers the Aerospace series: Inch series pipe couplings, enabling heat resistance and reliability in aerospace applications.
BS EN 4552 specifies the characteristics of swivel nuts for inch series pipe couplings, 37°, in heat resisting steel, for aerospace applications. Nominal pressure: Class D in accordance with ISO 6771.
In addition to the requirements of BS EN 4552, the coupling assemblies shall be qualified in accordance with equipment or component specification requirements.
BS EN 4552 has been prepared by the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN).
Who is BS EN 4552- Aerospace series: Inch series pipe couplings for?
BS EN 4552 on Aerospace series: Inch series pipe couplings is useful for:
- Spacecraft and space products manufacturers
- Aerospace products manufacturers
- Testing agencies involved in the inspection of spacecraft and aerospace products
- Quality control personnel for spacecraft products
- Aeronautical engineers
- Space researchers
Why should you use BS EN 4552- Aerospace series: Inch series pipe couplings?
Pipe coupling adapters are used to connect two or more sections of pipe for maintaining continuity. Flexible couplings allow for efficient and speedy piping repair. Pipe couplers slip over the outside of two pipes to connect them, usually permanently. A coupling can be a reducer or reducing coupling, meaning they reduce flow by joining a larger pipe to a smaller size.
BS EN 4552 gives users guidelines on configuration, material, heat and surface treatment, surface texture, sealing areas, installation, working pressure of pipe coupling, facilitating production, usability and operability in aerospace applications.
With the adoption of BS EN 4552, users can develop and assess swivel nuts for inch series pipe couplings, ensuring mechanical strength, performance and longevity in aerospace applications.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 4552:2015 supersedes BS EN 4552:2003, which is now withdrawn.
