What is BS EN 4611-005 - Silver-plated cables about ?
BS EN 4611-005 specifies the characteristics of UV laser printable, silver-plated copper conductor electrical cables Crosslinked Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene copolymer (XLETFE) family for use in the onboard electrical systems of aircraft operating at temperatures between – 65 °C and 150 °C. The voltage rating is 600 V rms at sea level. This insulation system has been used in aerospace applications using 115 V ac (phase-to-neutral) 400 Hz and 28 V dc.
These cables are only suitable for air flame use with additional protection against mechanical abuse. BS EN 4611-005 outlines the terms, definitions, symbols and abbreviations, materials and construction, required characteristics, quality assurance, designation, identification and marking, packaging, labelling and delivery lengths, and technical specifications.
Who is BS EN 4611-005 - Silver-plated cables for ?
BS EN 4611‑005 on silver-plated conductor electrical cables (Single extruded wall for enclosed applications) for aerospace applications is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of silver-plated conductor electrical cables
- Aircraft manufacturers
- Manufacturers of aircraft and aerospace equipment
- Quality control/testing and compliance personnel for aerospace
- Aerospace and defence industries
- Testing agencies involved in the inspection of spacecraft and aerospace products
Why should you use BS EN 4611-005 - Silver-plated cables ?
Crosslinked Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene copolymer (XLETFE) greatly improves the high and low-temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, wear resistance of the cable, and tensile strength of the whole body of the cable. BS EN 4611-005 specifies characteristics of silver-plated conductor electrical cables (XLETFE) and provides essential guidance on using the electrical systems of aircraft. Thus BS EN 4611-005 eases production process and guarantees the machining accuracy of the cable.
