What is BS EN 4614 about?
BS EN 4614 specifies the characteristics of a bearing, spherical plain in corrosion resisting steel with self-lubricating liner, wide series for aerospace applications.
Note: This part of BS EN 4614 is on wide series. These bearings are not intended for use of moving parts especially for control mechanism and operating system. They shall be used in the temperature range −55 °C to 163 °C.
Who is BS EN 4614 for?
BS EN 4614 on dimensions and load of spherical plain bearing is relevant to:
- Spherical plain bearing manufacturers
- Aerospace parts manufacturers
- Aerospace parts suppliers
- Structural engineers
- Mechanical engineers
Why should you use BS EN 4614?
Spherical plain bearings are used to accommodate shafts or rods with varying amounts of misalignment. They are designed to manage high radial loads and provide consistent performance under conditions of marginal lubrication, extreme speed and critical-application stress.
Spherical plain bearings are a crucial part when it comes to aerospace series, BS EN 4614 walks you through the characteristics of spherical plain bearing with inclusions such as requirements, designation, marking and technical specification. As these parts are subject to extreme speed and critical-application stress, it is very important to ensure safety protocols which can be done by going over BS EN 4614.
Moreover, requirements with regards to dimensions, tolerances, material and load and torque values established by BS EN 4614, make spherical plain bearings ideal for mechanisms requiring precision and accuracy, making your product more reliable and safer to use.
Keeping the character specifications under BS EN 4614 in mind, you can avoid misalignments, lower sensitivity to impact and vibrations and minimize damage from friction.
BS EN 4614 considers that the manufacturer’s operations will be an approved production organization for aerospace products that aligns with a holistic quality management system. As BS EN 4613 has been prepared by the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe – Standardization (ASD-STAN), it can further help your business establish operational credibilty to its customers
