What is BS EN 4644-011 - Plug size 1 for electrical connectors about ?
BS EN 4644 is a European standard on aerospace that discusses modular rectangular electrical and optical connectors with rectangular inserts. BS EN 4644-011 is the eleventh part of a multi-part series that specifies the size 1 plug for disconnect applications used in the family of modular rectangular electrical and optical connectors with rectangular inserts to ensure their efficiency and standard.
The receptacle corresponding to this plug is defined in EN 4644-012 and EN 4644-014.
Who is BS EN 4644-011 – Plug size 1 for electrical connectors for ?
BS EN 4644-011 on the plug size 1 for electrical connectors is useful for:
- Manufacturers of plug
- Manufacturers for electrical connectors
- Spacecraft and space products manufacturers
- Aerospace and defence industries
- Testing agencies involved in the inspection of spacecraft and aerospace products
- Quality control personnel for spacecraft products
Why should you use BS EN 4644-011 – Plug size 1 for electrical connectors ?
An electrical connector is a device that connects two active devices to transmit current or signals.
Plugs are widely used for connecting portable electric tools, light industrial electrical equipment, office equipment, etc. to the electricity supply.
BS EN 4644-011 provides you with the terms and definitions, required characteristics, designation, markings, and technical specifications of the electrical connector to manufacture plugs that are efficient, durable and of high quality.
The guidelines provided in BS EN 4644-011 assist the design engineer with the use of electrical connectors, to have greater flexibility while designing and integrating new products with components as well to enhance the reliability of their products.
BS EN 4644-011 guides in selecting the right plug as well as a connector as they improve the production process and in case an electronic component fails, the failed component can be replaced when an electrical connector is installed.
BS EN 4644-011 creates a standardized approach for manufacturers of electrical connectors supplying their electronic connectors to the aerospace industry to build trust in their use throughout the aerospace supply chain.
