What is BS EN 560 - Hose connections about?
BS EN 560 is an international standard used for gas welding equipment that specifies the dimensions which are useful in joining the hoses.
BS EN 560 lays down the dimensions and specifies the characteristics of the constituent parts of hose connections for welding, cutting, and allied processes, for example for pressure regulators according to EN ISO 2503 and blowpipes. The suitability of the hose connections mentioned below will be considered according to the applied pressure range.
Note: BS EN 560 does not cover the design of the hose tail inserted into the hose.
Who is BS EN 560 - Hose connections for?
BS EN 560 on Gas welding equipment is useful for:
- Metal industries
- Rubber industry
- Manufacturers of hoses
- Gas welding equipment manufacturers
Why should you use BS EN 560 - Hose connections?
Gas welding is the process of using heat generated from burning a fuel gas to join the two different hoses together. Hoses are used in a variety of industries to transport various types of fuel gases used in welding and cutting.
BS EN 560 specifies the dimensions and characteristics of hose connection. These dimensions are useful in designing the threaded union, union nut and hose tail correctly and efficiently. The connection of hoses is done by using welding, cutting and allied processes.
BS EN 560 helps in identifying the appropriate hose connections for equipment.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 560:2018 supersedes BS EN 560:2005. BS EN 560:2018 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 560:2005. These include:
- Normative references have been updated
- Clause 3, Terms and definitions, has been added
- An upper-pressure limit of 2 MPa for the hose connections has been added
- The design requirements for the diameter “d7” have been updated
