What is BS EN 60068-3-1 - Performance of cold and dry heat tests about?
BS EN 60068-3-1 is a standard that covers the performance of cold and dry heat tests, ensuring the quality, stability and consistency of the product specimen with respect to changing temperature variations
BS EN 60068-3-1 provides guidance regarding the performance of cold and dry heat tests.
The cold and dry heat tests mentioned in BS EN 60068-3-1 are applied to heat-dissipating specimens, non heat-dissipating specimens and free-air conditions.
BS EN 60068-3-1 provides informative guidance on the calculation of the effect of airflow on chamber conditions and surface temperatures of test specimens.
Who is BS EN 60068-3-1 - Performance of cold and dry heat tests for?
BS EN 60068-3-1 on the performance of cold and dry heat tests applies to:
- Quality assurance services
- Safety assurance services
- Product evaluation and testing services
- Environment testing laboratories
- Simulation testing services
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use BS EN 60068-3-1 - Performance of cold and dry heat tests?
Environmental testing is the process of determining product performance in specific environments, such as excessively hot or cold temperatures. Potential flaws can be found during testing, and product changes can be implemented at an early stage.
BS EN 60068-3-1 provides users guidance on the selection of test procedures, including general background, mechanisms of heat transfer, test chambers and measurement of temperature and air velocity, enabling users to assess the performance of cold and dry heat tests.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 60068-3-1, users can assess the product concerning changing temperature conditions, ensuring the product’s dependability, durability and prevention of material deterioration.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 60068-3-1:2011 supersedes BS EN 60068-3.1:1999, which is now withdrawn.
BS EN 60068-3-1:2011 includes some editorial and technical changes with reference to BS EN 60068-3.1:1999. These include:
- Removal of guidance regarding thermal characteristics of chamber walls
- Revision of sections that address environmental chambers that do not use the movement of air for temperature control
