What is BS EN 6032-Aerospace series: Fibre reinforced plastics about?
BS EN 6032 is a standard that serves technical specifications for the Aerospace series: Fibre reinforced plastics, enabling identification and applicability of fibre reinforced plastics in aerospace applications. BS EN 6032 specifies a method to determine the apparent glass transition temperatures of non-metallic materials.
BS EN 6032 is applicable to unidirectional tape and woven fabric reinforced plastic or plastic materials like adhesive or neat resin to compare the influence on the glass transition temperature resulting from processing-parameters of non-metallic parts for compatibility tests for checking co-curing effects of different prepreg types or with adhesive.
Note: BS EN 6032 does not give any directions necessary to meet health and safety requirements.
Who is BS EN 6032-Aerospace series: Fibre reinforced plastics for?
BS EN 6032 on Aerospace series: Fibre reinforced plastics applies to:
- Manufacturers of fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications
- Dealers and importers of fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications
- Testing houses and labs in the aerospace industry
- Inspection services in the aerospace industry
Why should you use BS EN 6032-Aerospace series: Fibre reinforced plastics?
Fibre reinforced plastic is the ideal material for lightweight construction. Due to qualities such as lightweight, high stiffness, and high strength, fibre reinforced polymers have been widely used in the aerospace sector. Fibre reinforced polymers change from a hard to a more rubbery state at the glass transition temperature.
BS EN 6032 provides users guidance on principle, designation of the method, apparatus, test specimen, procedure, presentation of the results and test report, enabling users to get accurate results.
BS EN 6032 provides users guidance on three test methods depending on the frequency of the equipment to determine the glass transition temperature of fibre reinforced plastics. BS EN 6032 also provides users with a step-by-step procedure for the method enabling users to do the technique correctly.
The adoption of BS EN 6032 allows users to develop and assess fibre reinforced plastic, ensuring high strength and chemical resistance in aerospace applications.
