What is BS EN 6033 - Carbon fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications about ?
Product and component quality is paramount for aerospace vessels. The delivery of high-quality components contributes to the safety of those on board. Carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRPs) are extremely strong and light fibre-reinforced plastics that contain carbon fibres. CFRPs can be expensive to produce but are commonly used wherever high strength-to-weight ratio and stiffness (rigidity) are required, such as aerospace, superstructures of ships, automotive, civil engineering, sports equipment, and an increasing number of consumer and technical applications.
BS EN 6033 specifies the procedure to determine the mode I interlaminar fracture toughness energy GIC of carbon fibre composites manufactured from unidirectional tape or woven fabric. BS EN 6033 does not give any directions necessary to meet health and safety requirements. It is the responsibility of the user of BS EN 6033 to consult and establish appropriate health and safety precautions.
Who is BS EN 6033 - Carbon fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications for ?
BS EN 6033 on carbon fibre reinforced plastics for awerospace applications is useful for:
- The aerospace and defence industry
- Manufacturers of aerospace equipment and components
- Vendors / Manufacturers and suppliers of Carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRPs)
- Purchase divisions / component sourcing personnel
- Product design engineers
- Aeronautical engineers
Why should you use BS EN 6033 - Carbon fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications ?
The demand for carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP) in the aerospace industry is greater than ever. As a customer, you can benefit from our wide range of materials and expertise across all processing stages from fibres to the final lightweight structure. By using CFRP in both primary and secondary structures, it is possible to save weight and at the same time achieve mechanical peak values in terms of strength and stiffness of the components.
BS EN 6033 provides you with procedure to determine the mode I interlaminar fracture toughness energy GIC of carbon fibre for aerospace so that the products are suitable for the required purpose.
The guidelines in BS EN 6033 contribute towards including high-quality components for aerospace that are responsible for smooth and safe functioning of vessels.
