What is BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 about?
BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 is the second part of Environmental testing in multi-series.
BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 specifies a test method for assessing the corrosion resistance of electrotechnical products components, equipment and materials in a salt mist environment. Its objective is to verify that the comparative quality of a metallic material, with or without corrosion protection, is maintained when exposed to salt mist.
Who is BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 for?
BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 on Environment testing is useful for:
- Manufacturers of electronic products
- Research laboratories
- Electromechanical parts manufacturer
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11?
Environment testing is conducted to measure the performance of the product under different climatic conditions. This Environment testing helps to determine the relationship between the deterioration of electrotechnical equipment due to salt-laden atmospheres.
BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 helps to design and construct the material that is non-reactive to the salt solution. BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 will help you in evaluating the quality and the uniformity of coatings applied to protect metals against corrosion. This BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 helps in detecting the pores and other defects in certain metallic, organic, anodic oxide and conversion coatings.
This BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 will help you in manufacturing products that will be sustainable in salt-laden atmospheres. By using BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11 the product quality will increase, and the product will remain intact for longer duration.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11:2021 supersedes BS EN 60068‑2‑11:1999. BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑11:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 60068‑2‑11:1999. These include:
- The preparation of the salt solution has been modified
- The temperature of the solution for measuring pH has been modified
- The atomizing pressure and water temperature of the saturation tower have been added and are given in Table 1
- Examples of typical test apparatus have been added and are given in Annex A
- A method for evaluating the corrosivity of the apparatus has been added and is given in Annex B
