What is BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 about?
IEC 60068‑3‑7 is third in the IEC 60068 series on documents on environmental testing. BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 is an international standard on environmental testing to test the performance of temperature chambers.
IEC 60068‑3‑7 series specifies a uniform and reproducible method of confirming that temperature test chambers conform to the requirements specified in the climatic test procedures of IEC 60068-2-1 and IEC 60068-2-2 when loaded with either heat-dissipating or non-heat dissipating specimens under conditions that consider air circulation inside the working space of the chamber.
BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 is intended primarily for users when conducting regular chamber performance monitoring.
Who is BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 for?
BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 on environmental testing with measurement in temperature chamber is useful for:
- Temperature chambers manufacturers
- Quality control personnel of temperature chambers
- Test personnel of temperature chambers
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7?
A temperature chamber is a test chamber that simulates extreme temperatures, allowing the user to test the environmental resistance of a product, device, or other object placed within.
BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 provides you with fundamental information on environmental testing procedures and severities. BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 provides you with a confirmation method, routine monitoring method, test procedures, supporting documentation and guidance for testing the environmental resistance of a product.
BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7 provides you with the natural and artificial environments to which components or equipment may be exposed so that an assessment can be made of their performance under conditions of use, transport, and storage to which they may be exposed in practice.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7:2020 supersedes BS EN 60068‑3‑7:2002. BS EN IEC 60068‑3‑7:2020 includes some technical changes concerning BS EN 60068‑3‑7:2002. These include:
- Verbal forms have, in many parts, been changed to express requirements instead of recommendations
- Table 1 has been updated
