What is BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 about?
BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 covers electric pumps used in the cooling circuits of power transformers and reactors. It applies to electric pumps mounted on liquid immersed power transformers and reactors with and without a conservator for indoor or outdoor installation.
BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 outlines the operation requirements for the electrical and hydraulic performance, mechanical design, routine testing and type testing. It also specifies performance and dimensions of preferred sizes of pump sets.
NOTE 1: The pumps covered in BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 are rotodynamic pumps driven by a squirrel cage induction motor that is immersed in the insulating liquid.
NOTE 2: Pump sets conforming to BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 can be of in-line or end suction design.
Who is BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 for?
BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 on electric pumps for transformers is for:
- Manufacturers of electric pumps
- Suppliers and dealers of electric pumps
- Importers of electric pumps
- Service providers for transformers and electric pumps
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5?
Cooling of a transformer is the process of dissipation of heat developed in the transformer to the surroundings. Electric pumps are used on a liquid immersed transformers in cooling circuits to reduce the temperature of the liquids(oil).
BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 gives you all the information about technical specifications such as service conditions and general characteristics and requirements for electric pumps that are needed so that you can manufacture electric pumps in compliance with standard transformers.
When you are replacing one pump with another, it is important that flow in the cooling circuit be not greatly changed. Thus, BS EN IEC 60076‑22‑5 provides you with very essential factors like hydraulic interchangeability, minute details about electrical performance and procedure to carry out test methods so that you can service a transformer effortlessly
