What is BS EN IEC 60534-4 - Control valves inspection and routine testing about?
BS EN IEC 60534-4 is the fourth part of the IEC 60534 series that specifies the requirements for the inspection and routine testing of control valves manufactured in conformity with the other parts of IEC 60534.
BS EN IEC 60534-4 is applicable to valves with pressure ratings not exceeding Class 2500. The requirements for actuators apply only to pneumatic actuators.
Note: BS EN IEC 60534-4 does not apply to the types of control valves where radioactive service, fire safety testing, or other hazardous service conditions are encountered. If a standard for hazardous service conflicts with the requirements of BS EN IEC 60534-4, the standard for hazardous service should take precedence.
Who is BS EN IEC 60534-4 - Control valves inspection and routine testing for?
BS EN IEC 60534-4 on industrial-process control valves is useful for:
- Oil and gas industry
- Energy and power industry
- Water and wastewater treatment industry
- Quality assurance personnel
- Maintenance managers
- Valves manufacturers
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60534-4 - Control valves inspection and routine testing?
By implementing a control valve diagnostics programme, plant personnel can have a better understanding of each control valve's genuine status, as well as predict exact maintenance requirements. Maintenance costs are significantly reduced. Increasing the overall efficiency of the plant.
BS EN IEC 60534-4 provides you with requirements for the conduction of tests and the procedures to be followed to assess the efficiency and performance. Using BS EN IEC 60534-4 guidelines you can enhance the safety and protection along with performance, quality assurance, cost-effectiveness, and durability of valves.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 60534-4:2022 supersedes BS EN 60534-4:2006.
BS EN IEC 60534-4:2022 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- Remove details about hydrostatic test but state that to be performed according to valve design code
- Include mandatory test for valve packing;
- Put in evidence limits of reduced differential pressure seat leakage test procedure
- Introduce details about a low-temperature seat leakage test
- Extend dimensional range for leakage class VI to less than 25 mm and over 400 mm seat diameter
