What is BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75-Photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment about?
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 is part 2-75 of the multi-series standard that discusses medical electrical equipment. BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 outlines the basic safety and essential performance of photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment.
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 provides guidance on establishing basic safety and essential performance requirements for photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment.
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 applies to photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment used for compensation or alleviation of disease, injury, or disability.
In the case of combined equipment (e.g., equipment additionally provided with a function or an applied part for the target area) such equipment shall also comply with any particular standard specifying safety requirements for the additional function.
Note-
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 does not apply to light therapy equipment intended for use in photothermal ablation, coagulation, and hyperthermia, low-level laser therapy equipment not intended for use with a photosensitizer, and illumination equipment intended for use in observation, monitoring, and diagnosis, not intended for use with a photosensitizer.
Who is BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75-Photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment for?
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 on photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment is useful for:
- Manufacturers of photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment
- Hospitals
- Medical laboratories
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75-Photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment?
Photodynamic therapy (PDS) is a treatment that involves light-sensitive medicine and a light source to destroy abnormal cells. It can be used to treat some skin and eye conditions, as well as certain types of cancer. photodynamic diagnosis is a diagnostic modality that involves the emission of light-induced excitation fluorescence to enhance early detection, without tumor destruction, after photosensitizer exposure to blue light.
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 guidelines help you with essential performance requirements and protection against electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, unwanted and excessive radiation hazards, excessive temperatures, and other hazards for photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment.
BS EN IEC 60601‑2‑75 improves the performance and safety of photodynamic therapy and photodynamic diagnosis equipment and minimizes hazards to the patient and operator.
