What is BS EN IEC 60645‑3 about?
BS EN IEC 60645‑3 is the third part of the multi-series standard on Electroacoustics.
BS EN IEC 60645‑3 specifies a means of describing the physical characteristics, in terms of electrical waveforms, audiometric reference, and test signals of short duration and methods for their measurement.
The object of BS EN IEC 60645‑3 is to ensure that audiometric stimuli of short duration are specified and measured and that the calibration of equipment using such signals is carried out using defined methods.
Who is BS EN IEC 60645‑3 for?
BS EN IEC 60645‑3 on methods for measuring audiometric equipment is useful for:
- Audiometric equipment manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
- Acoustic engineers
- Audiologists
Why should you use BS EN IEC 60645‑3?
Using an audiometer with various audiometric testing techniques, audiologists or other trained personnel determine a person's hearing threshold, identify, and quantify hearing impairment.
BS EN IEC 60645‑3 specifies the measurement methods and requirements for reference and other test signals of short duration for audiometric equipment.
Overall, BS EN IEC 60645‑3 provides you with the basic methods and guidelines for calibration and improves the performance of audiometric equipment, and evaluates hearing acuity.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 60645‑3:2020 supersedes IEC 60645-2:2007 and includes some technical changes:
- New figures of reference signals added
- Changes in definitions
