What is BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504 about?
BS EN IEC 61189 covers test methods for electrical materials, printed board and other interconnection structures and assemblies. BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504 is an international standard for electric materials that specifies the test methods for materials and assemblies which is helpful in measuring the ionic residues which are dissolved in ionic contamination solutions.
BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504 specifies a test method designed to determine the proportion of soluble ionic residues present upon a circuit board, electronic component, or assembly. The conductivity of the solution used to dissolve the ionic residues is measured to evaluate the level of ionic residues.
Who is BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504 for?
BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504 on test methods for electrical materials, printed board and other interconnection structures and assemblies is useful for:
- Manufacturer of electronic devices
- Manufacturer of electronic circuits
- Electrical engineers
- Electricians
Why should you use BS EN IEC 61189‑5‑504?
BS EN IEC 61189-5-504 guidelines helps in measuring the conductivity of a test solution that comprises a mixture of de-ionised water and alcohol. To determine the contaminate level the conductance is measured that results in dissolving the ionic soils into water. The measurement instruments are helpful in avoiding polarisation effects between electrodes which occurs while using DC current in electronic material. BS EN IEC 61189-5-504 is useful in preventing contamination of materials and helps in taking suitable precautions against electrostatic discharge.
BS EN IEC 61189-5-504 specifies the test procedures and test method that helps you in performing the test. This ionic contamination test method helps in measuring the ionic residues present in the solution and also helps in monitoring the level of ionic residues of printed circuit boards, electrical materials and electronic components or printed circuit assemblies.
