What is BS EN IEC 61853‑4‒ Photovoltaic module energy ratings about?
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 is the fourth part of an international multi-series standard that covers general specifications for efficient performance of photovoltaic module.
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 describes requirements for evaluating PV module performance in terms of power (watts) rating. It describes the standard reference climatic profiles used for calculating energy ratings.
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 specifies terms, definitions, standard reference climatic profiles for energy rating, data format, and reference climatic profiles for testing the performance and energy ratings of the photovoltaic modules.
Note 1: BS EN IEC 61853‑4 is applicable to all PV technologies including non-linear devices.
Note 2: The methodology in BS EN IEC 61853‑4 does not take into account either progressive degradation or transient behaviour such as light-induced changes and/or thermal annealing.
Who is BS EN IEC 61853‑4‒ Photovoltaic module energy ratings for?
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 on photovoltaic module energy ratings is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of photovoltaic module
- Dealers and distributors of photovoltaic module
- Designers and developers of photovoltaic module
- Test/ service providers for photovoltaic module
Why should you use BS EN IEC 61853‑4‒ Photovoltaic module energy ratings?
The energy rating of a Photovoltaic module is defined by the power provided under maximum sunlight and with optimal operating temperature.
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 establishes general requirements for determining PV module performance in terms of power (watts), specific module energy rating (kWh/kW), and climatic specific energy ratings, that are in compliance with the international standards.
BS EN IEC 61853‑4 describes the standard time periods and environmental data set to you, which could be very useful for the energy rating calculations. It could help you for understanding and analyze the performance of photovoltaic modules under various climatic condition profiles and upgrade the solar system accordingly.
