What is BS EN IEC 62024-1- Nanohenry range chip inductor about?
BS EN IEC 62024 is an international standard that discusses high-frequency inductive components such as transformers, inductors, magnetic components, and ferrite materials are used to provide an increase in the permeability of the medium around the coil to increase the inductance of the inductor.
BS EN IEC 62024-1 is the first part in the multi-series that specifies electrical characteristics and measuring methods for the nanohenry range chip inductor that is normally used in high frequency (over 100 kHz) range.
The main objective of the BS EN IEC 62024-1 is to determine the inductance, Q-factor and impedance of the inductor.
Who is BS EN IEC 62024-1 - Nanohenry range chip inductor for?
BS EN IEC 62024-1 on measuring methods for nanohenry range chip inductor is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of electrical equipment and integrated circuits
- Manufacturers of chip inductors
- Quality testing authorities
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62024-1 - Nanohenry range chip inductor?
Chip conductors are single or multi-layered thin-wire or film-wrapped coils on a core that provide optimized high-frequency characteristics. They however have some common specifications such as inductance, Q-factor and impedance that are essential to their performance.
BS EN IEC 62024-1 walks you through the method to measure inductance, Q-factor and impedance by the vector/voltage current method. It also covers the measurement of resonance frequency by the reflection method.
If you are a manufacturer of chip conductors, evaluating these parameters can help in enhancing performance of the end-application based on its specific requirement of Q-factor, inductance and impedance values.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 62024-1:2018 supersedes BS EN 62024‑1:2008, which is withdrawn.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- Addition of voltage-drop method of DC resistance measuring
- Unification of technical terms
