What is IEC 62148‑15 about?
BS EN IEC 62148 is a series on fibre optic active components and devices. Active fibre-optical components are available for multi-mode and single-mode fibres. BS EN IEC 62148‑15 specifies the physical requirements of discrete vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) devices, that will enable mechanical interchangeability of laser devices or transmitters complying with BS EN IEC 62148‑15 both at the printed circuit wiring board and for any panel-mounting requirement.
BS EN IEC 62148‑15 covers the physical dimension and interface specifications for discrete vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) devices in optical telecommunication and optical data transmission applications. BS EN IEC 62148‑15 applies to LC and SC optical connector interfaces.
Who is BS EN IEC 62148‑15 for?
BS EN IEC 62148‑15 on fibre optic active components and devices is useful for:
- Telecommunication equipment manufacturers
- Research and development facilities
- Quality control personnel
- Inspection and testing bodies
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62148‑15?
Discrete vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) packages are the ideal optical sources for data communication and sensing. In data communication, large data rates combined with excellent energy efficiency and temperature stability have been achieved based on advanced device design and modulation formats. BS EN IEC 62148‑15 provides you with dimension specifications for the electrical interface of VCSEL TO CAN, TOSA and VCSEL pigtail packages that you need to adhere to. Following the design guidelines given in BS EN IEC 62148‑15 help you to enhance performance, and optical packages capable of supporting high data rates.
BS EN IEC 62148‑15 creates a standardized approach for you. By adopting BS EN IEC 62148‑15, you can demonstrate the reliability of your VCSEL packages, and build trust in their use throughout the supply chain. Users from the electronic market can make the best use of BS EN IEC 62148‑15 as applications range from laser mice to three-dimensional (3D) sensing and imaging, including various 3D movement detections, such as gesture recognition or face recognition. Meta structures, exhibiting additional unique properties, of the largest importance for next-generation data communication, sensing, and photonic integrated circuits are also included in its application which can be beneficial for the user. Using BS EN IEC 62148‑15 you can specify the physical requirements of discrete VCSEL devices, that will enable mechanical interchangeability of laser devices or transmitters.
