What is BS EN IEC 62149‑11 about?
BS EN IEC 62149 is a series on fibre optic active components and devices. BS EN IEC 62149‑11 specifies the performance standards for a multiple channel transmitter/receiver chip-scale package with a multimode fibre interface that operates at up to 28 Gbit/s per channel.
BS EN IEC 62149‑11 specifies the parameters that apply, with clearly defined conditions, severities, and pass/fail criteria. The tests are intended to be run as an initial design verification to prove any product's ability to satisfy the performance standard's requirements.
BS EN IEC 62149‑11 covers the performance standards for photonic chip-scale packages for use with multimode fibre through free space optics or multiple channel optical fibre connectors.
Who is BS EN IEC 62149‑11 for?
BS EN IEC 62149‑11 on fibre optic active components and devices is useful for:
- Telecommunication components and equipment manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62149‑11?
BS EN IEC 62149‑11 discusses the photonic chip-scale package which is used to convert electrical signals into optical signals and vice-versa. The chip-scale package is constructed with a silicon photonics platform.
Chip-scale packages as mentioned in BS EN IEC 62149‑11 are used in electronic devices such as cell phones, smart devices, laptops and digital cameras due to the significant size and weight reduction provided. Chip scale packaging can combine the strengths of various packaging technologies, such as the size and performance advantage of bare die assembly and the reliability of encapsulated devices.
BS EN IEC 62149‑11 gives you performance standards for photonic chip-scale packages and tests to interface them with multimode fibres, so that you can provide high-speed services to your customers.
