What is IEC 62153-4-5 about?
IEC 62153-4-5 discusses an absorbing clamp method. This method is suitable to determine the screening- or the coupling-attenuation of metallic communication cables in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 1 000 MHz (2 400 MHz), depending on the performance of the clamp. It is an alternative method to the triaxial method of IEC 62153-4-4 or IEC 62153-4-9. Due to the undefined outer circuit of this absorbing clamp method, the test results obtained at different places and laboratories could vary by at least ± 6 dB.
Who is IEC 62153-4-5 for?
IEC 62153-4-5 on metallic communication cables is applicable to:
- Transmission line for radio frequency signals
- Computer network (e.g., Ethernet) Connections
- Digital audio (S/PDIF)
- Cable television
Why should you use IEC 62153-4-5?
IEC 62153-4-5 helps to determine the screening- or the coupling-attenuation of metallic communication cables which helps improve cables efficiency and quality of the signal transmitted.
The absorbing clamp method is described in IEC 62153-4-5 to determine the screening- or coupling-attenuation for a given frequency in order to protect metallic communication cables. which helps metallic communication cables durability and Long service-life
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN IEC 62153-4-5:2021 cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2006. This version of IEC 62153-4-5 constitutes a technical revision.
BS EN IEC 62153-4-5:2021 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- Reorganisation of clauses and annexes
- Extension of the frequency range to 2,4 GHz
- Application of a virtual balun respectively balunless test procedure with multiport VNA
