What is BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 about?
BS EN IEC 62343 is a series on dynamic modules. BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 provides a performance specification template for wavelength selective switches (WSS). The object is to provide a framework for the preparation of detailed specifications on the performance of wavelength selective switches.
Additional specification parameters are often included for detailed product specifications or performance specifications if necessary. However, specification parameters specified in BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 are not removed from the detailed product specifications or performance specifications.
Who is BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 for?
BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 on dynamic modules is useful for:
- Telecommunication component and equipment manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3?
BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 discusses wavelength selective switch which is a dynamic module (DM). The wavelength selective switch is mainly used in a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) system to switch a particular wavelength signal to any output ports in DWDM networks.
The wavelength selective switch as mentioned in BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 has one input port and a plurality of output ports (i.e., 1 × N WSS) and can be used in reverse, with N input ports and one output port, depending on its application.
The wavelength selective switch is controlled with software, which determines any wavelength signal among a DWDM signal from one input port to switch to a particular output port in case of 1 × N application.
Using BS EN IEC 62343‑3‑3 on wavelength selective switch you can dynamically route, block and attenuate all DWDM wavelengths within a network node.
