What is BS EN IEC 62386-220 about?
BS EN IEC 62386-220 specifies a bus system for control by digital signals of electronic lighting equipment which is in line with the requirements of IEC 61347 (all parts), with the addition of DC supplies.
BS EN IEC 62386-220 is applicable to control gear supporting centrally supplied emergency operations.
NOTE: BS EN IEC 62386-220 does not apply to self-contained emergency lighting control gear.
Who is BS EN IEC 62386-220 for?
BS EN IEC 62386-220 on digital addressable lighting interface is for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of Led lighting products and fittings
- Manufacturers and suppliers of input devices – sensors, switches
- Installers and service providers for the digital addressable lighting interface system
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62386-220?
Digital Addressable Lighting Interface i.e. DALI is a 2-way communications engagement used to provide control over, and communication between, the components in a lighting system.
BS EN IEC 62386-220 on digital addressable lighting interface describes you a method of implementing control gear for the standardization of the control interface. It is intended to achieve a compatible co-existence between electronic control gear and lighting control devices, below the level of building management systems.
BS EN IEC 62386-220 mentions the practicability of protection functionalities, that you should consider, as they might interfere with desired emergency operation, if you are a control gear manufacturer.
BS EN IEC 62386-220 gives you a possibility to protect the emergency-operation related data within the control gear, against intended and unintended changes via bus bar, to ensure data integrity. Also, BS EN IEC 62386-220 extends the general requirements for your control gear with lamp-specific extensions and with control gear-specific features.
