What is BS EN IEC 62677-2- Methods of test for heat-shrinkable moulded shapes about?
BS EN IEC 62677 is an International Standard that discusses heat shrinkable low and medium voltage moulded shapes.
BS EN IEC 62677-2 is the second part in the BS EN IEC 62677 series that specifies methods of test for heat shrinkable low and medium voltage moulded shapes in a range of configurations and materials suitable for insulation, environmental sealing, mechanical protection and strain relief for connector/cable terminations and multi-way transitions.
The tests specified are designed to control the quality of the moulded shapes, but it is recognized that they are designed to be used in low and medium voltage cable accessories and as such electrical performance will be proven as part of the assembly.
Who is BS EN IEC 62677-2- Methods of test for heat-shrinkable moulded shapes for?
BS EN IEC 62677-2 on heat shrinkable low and medium voltage is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of heat shrinkable moulded shapes
- Manufacturers of low and medium-voltage applications
- Manufacturers of insulating materials
- Product design engineers
- Electrical industry
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62677-2-Methods of test for heat-shrinkable moulded shape?
Heat-shrinkable moulded shapes impart high electric strength, mechanical endurance and protection against external influences, thus keeping your components and equipment well insulated. For this reason, selecting the right moulding materials is crucial.
BS EN IEC 62677-2 provides the moulded shape material test, classification, dimensions, standard test specimen. Test methods help assess, but are not limited to:
- Bending at low temperature
- Heat shock
- Electric strength
- Volume resistivity
- Resistance to tracking
- Flammability
- Resistance to selected fluids
If you are a manufacturer, materials that conform to BS EN IEC 62677-2 methods of test meet established levels of performance. As a result, you can demonstrate the reliability of your products to seal and protect wire connection effectively by complying with BS EN IEC 62677-2.
Overall, BS EN IEC 62677-2 is your one-stop guide to making the right selection of insulating materials and assessing properties of moulded shapes for a positive impact on the performance of low and medium voltage applications.
