What is BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 - Heat-shrinkable, polyolefin moulded shapes about?
BS EN IEC 62677 is an International Standard that discusses heat shrinkable low and medium voltage moulded shapes.
BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 is the one of the parts in the BS EN IEC 62677 series is applicable to heat shrinkable low voltage moulded shapes in a range of configurations suitable for insulation, environmental sealing, mechanical protection, strain relief for power cable terminations, joints and stop ends. These moulded shapes have been found suitable for use for temperatures between –40 °C and 100 °C.
The moulded shapes can be supplied with a pre-coated adhesive. A guide to adhesive compatibility and temperature performance is given in Annex A. The manufacturers/suppliers can be consulted for options.
Who is BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 - Heat-shrinkable, polyolefin moulded shapes for?
BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 on moulded shapes is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of heat shrinkable moulded shapes
- Manufacturers of low-voltage applications
- Manufacturers and suppliers of polyolefin
- Product design engineers
- Electrical industry
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 - Heat-shrinkable, polyolefin moulded shapes?
Heat-shrinkable moulded shapes impart high electric strength, mechanical endurance and protection against external influences, thus keeping your components and equipment well insulated. For this reason, selecting the right moulding materials is crucial.
BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 covers materials of two types:
- Type A – Flame retardant
- Type B – Not flame retardant
BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 provides the moulded shape material test specimen, classification, dimensions, designation, and property requirements for material conformance. As the moulded shapes can be supplied with a pre-coated adhesive, an adhesive compatibility guide is also covered.
The tests specified in BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 are designed to control the quality of the moulded shapes. If you are a manufacturer, materials that conform to BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 meet established levels of performance. As a result, you can demonstrate the reliability of your products to seal and protect wire connection effectively by complying with BS EN IEC 62677-3-101.
Overall, BS EN IEC 62677-3-101 is your one-stop guide to making the right selection of insulating materials, that play a positive role in the performance of low voltage applications.
