What is BS EN IEC 62714-1 - Automation Markup Language about?
IEC 62714 series defines the data exchange format (Automation Markup Language) which is an XML schema-based data format for plant engineering data. Automation Markup Language (AML) is developed to support the data exchange in a heterogeneous engineering tools landscape.
The application of IEC 62714 is industry independent. IEC 62714 is applicable in all industries that require data exchange in their engineering toolchain, e.g., in discrete industry or process industry.
BS EN IEC 62714-1 specifies the general AML architecture, the modelling of engineering data, classes, instances, relations, references, hierarchies, basic AML libraries and extended AML concepts. It is the basis of all future parts, and it provides mechanisms to reference other sub-formats.
Note: BS EN IEC 62714-1 does not define details of the data exchange procedure or implementation requirements for the import/export tools.
Who is BS EN IEC 62714-1 - Automation markup language for?
BS EN IEC 62714-1 on automation markup language is useful for:
- Industries that require data exchange in their engineering toolchain
- The automation industry
- Telecommunication companies
- Software companies/IT firms
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62714-1 - Automation markup language?
The goal of AML is to interconnect engineering tools in their different disciplines, for example, mechanical plant engineering, electrical design, process engineering, process control engineering, HMI development, PLC programming, robot programming, etc.
BS EN IEC 62714-1 provides you with general requirements and the architecture of automation markup language for the modelling of engineering information, which is exchanged between engineering tools for industrial automation and control systems. Its provisions apply to the export/import applications of related tools.
BS EN IEC 62714-1 describes how to model user-defined data, the basic AML libraries, extended AML concepts. BS EN IEC 62714-1 gives an informative introduction, use cases and examples regarding AML and gives an informative XML representation of the libraries.
