What is BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 about?
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 is a part of a multi-series standard that deals with the performance qualifications of materials used in photovoltaic modules.
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 provides procedures for standardized test methods for evaluating the properties of materials designed to be used as edge seals.
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 gives specifications for test procedures for verifying the performance of edge seals by recommending various tests, such as moisture permeation properties, electrical properties, adhesion testing, the durability of the materials, flame resistance rheological properties, preparation of test reports, etc.
Who is BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 for?
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 on edge seals is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of photovoltaic (PV) devices
- Dealers and importers of photovoltaic (PV) devices
- Testing houses/ service providers of photovoltaic (PV) devices
- Entities dealing with photovoltaic (PV) devices
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1?
The International PV Quality Assurance Task Force (PVQAT) leads global efforts to craft quality and reliability standards for solar energy technologies.
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 describes the test methods that may be used to standardize the way edge seals are evaluated. It specifies technicalities such as moisture permeation properties as well as electrical properties, as edge seal materials also provide electrical insulation in addition to restricting moisture ingress.
Also, to perform these functions properly, edge seal materials are relied upon to adhere well, thus, BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 also provides a procedure for testing adhesion properties of edge seal materials.
BS EN IEC 62788‑5‑1 could help you to quickly assess a solar photovoltaic (PV) module's performance and ability to withstand weather stresses, thereby reducing risk and adding confidence for those developing products, designing incentive programs, and determining private investments.
