What is BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 about?
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 is a part of European Standard that specifies safety requirements for semi-integrated organic light emitting diode modules operating with an external control gear connected to the mains voltage.
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 also applies to semi-integrated OLED modules which have a control means inside (“semi-integrated”) for operation under constant voltage, constant current or constant power and have a rated voltage up to 120 V ripple free DC or 50 V AC RMS at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
Who is BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 for?
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 on semi-integrated organic light emitting diode (OLED) is beneficial for:
- Companies dealing with setting up electrical light modules
- Manufactures of electrical lighting modules
- Service providers and installers for electrical lighting modules
- Retailers and distributors of electrical components for light sources
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1?
An LED where the light is emitted by the organic modules is called an organic light emitting diode (OLED).
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 gives you test methods for securing the organic light emitting diode (OLED) system such as insulating resistance test which ensures that there is adequate insulating resistance between live parts and outer metal parts.
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 also specifies electric strength testing which help in manufacturing the good quality of OLED in a standardized manner.
BS EN IEC 62868‑2‑1 guides you to ensure safety on different instances such as heat and fire, corrosion, accidental contact with live parts, which will reduce the risk factor of OLED.
