What is BS EN IEC 62966-1 - Aisle containments about ?
BS EN IEC 62966 series discusses mechanical structures for electrical and electronic equipment for aisle containment. BS EN IEC 62966-1 is the first part of a series of documents and an international standard for mechanical structures for electrical and electronic equipment. BS EN IEC 62966-1 specifies the dimensions and mechanical requirements for IT cabinets which helps in stipulating the properties and requirements of aisle containment.
The cabinets concerned are dealt with in the standard series IEC 60297 and IEC 60917.
Who is BS EN IEC 62966-1 - Aisle containments for ?
BS EN IEC 62966‑1 on aisle containments is applicable to:
- Information technology companies
- Data centres
- Server rooms
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62966-1 - Aisle containments ?
Aisle containment for IT cabinets are used as enclosures of electronical and electric equipment in many different fields of applications. A wide field of application is represented by enclosures equipped with electronic information technology (IT) equipment.
BS EN IEC 62966‑1 helps in designing the aisle containments in such a way that the surfaces with supply air inlets and with exhaust air outlets face each other respectively. This containment design helps all elements to be intrinsically safe and stable. The airtightness in containment is useful in preventing supply air recirculation and helps in bypassing the IT equipment from the cold aisle to the hot aisle. The dimensions for IT cabinets mentioned in BS EN IEC 62966-1 is useful in designing these containments in a user-friendly and energy-efficient way in IT operations.
BS EN IEC 62966‑1 helps in verifying the properties and requirements of aisle containment which ensures cost-effective installation, energy-efficient, and user-friendly operation of IT equipment in data centers and server rooms.
