What is BS EN IEC 63044‑3‒ Electrical safety requirements of HBES and BACS about?
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 is the third part of an international multi-series standard that covers safety requirements for Home and Building Electronic Systems (HBES) and Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS).
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 provides the electrical safety requirements related to the HBES/BACS network in addition to the product safety standards for HBES/BACS devices.
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 also applies to devices used within an HBES/BACS network for which no specific HBES/BACS product safety standard exists. In addition, it defines safety requirements for the interface of equipment intended to be connected to an HBES/BACS network. It does not apply to interfaces to other networks.
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 is applicable to:
- Operator stations and other human–system interface devices
- Devices for management functions
- Control devices, automation stations, and application-specific controllers
- Field devices and their interfaces
- Cabling and interconnection of devices used within a dedicated HBES/BACS network
Who is BS EN IEC 63044‑3‒ Electrical safety requirements of HBES and BACS for?
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 on electrical safety requirements of HBES and BACS is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of devices for HBES/BACS network
- Dealers and distributors of devices for HBES/BACS network
- Designers and developers of HBES/BACS network
- Test/ service providers for HBES/BACS network
Why should you use BS EN IEC 63044‑3‒ Electrical safety requirements of HBES and BACS?
The entire HBES/BACS, media, and devices as well as their installation, require ensuring safe operation by protection against mechanical, chemical, environmental, and other hazards.
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 gives you electrical safety requirements for devices of an HBES/BACS that comply with the standard in consideration of the required overvoltage category and pollution degree. It protects against electric shock, burns, and fire during normal use as well as under single-fault conditions and specified abnormal conditions.
BS EN IEC 63044‑3 covers the safety requirements and compliance criteria that help you for:
- Protection from hazards in the device
- Protection from overvoltage on the network and touch current
- Protection from hazards caused by different types of circuit
- Protection of the communication wiring from overheating caused by excessive current.
