What is BS EN IEC 63067 about?
BS EN IEC 63067 applies to plugs and receptacles for single or multiple poles connecting devices used for aeronautical ground lighting applications.
Who is BS EN IEC 63067 for?
BS EN IEC 63067 on connecting devices is relevant to:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of connecting devices
- Aerospace industry
- Aeronautical engineers
- Airport authorities
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use BS EN IEC 63067?
BS EN IEC 63067 provides a classification of connecting devices, based on their type, class, interface, cable type while recommending standardised dimensions for the same.
BS EN IEC 63067 provides a reference standard for the materials to be used for connecting devices, that ensures resistance to weathering and corrosion.
BS EN IEC 63067 ensures that pins and sockets used shall be electroplated such that good electrical contact and corrosion resistance can be established.
Construction of connected devices and their assemblies in compliance with BS EN IEC 63067 ensures water tightness when the plug and receptacle are connected, minimising the probability of causing the hazards.
With BS EN IEC 63067, plugs and receptacles can be designed and constructed such that, in normal use, their performance is reliable, and safety is achieved at a tolerable level in an airfield environment.
