What is BS EN IEC 63146 – LED packages about?
BS EN IEC 63146 is a European standard that discusses sheets for LED packages for general lighting. LED lights are one of the latest inventions of scientists for reducing the negative effects of conventional bulbs on the environment.
BS EN IEC 63146 establishes requirements for specification sheets relating to light-emitting diode (LED) packages designed for the emission of white light for general lighting applications.
Note: BS EN IEC 63146 does not contain compliance criteria.
Who is BS EN IEC 63146 – LED packages for?
BS EN IEC 63146 on LED for general lighting is applicable to:
- Manufacturing of LED lighting
- Electrical engineering
- Suppliers and retailers of LED lights
Why should you use BS EN IEC 63146 – LED packages?
An LED package is a plastic casing that carries an LED chip and phosphor. The LED chip is the semiconductor material that emits light (blue light) and the phosphor material converts some of this light into green and red wavelengths.
BS EN IEC 63146 navigates you through LED specifications to give vital technical guidance allowing you to mount and power your LEDs to maximize output and to maximize efficiency resulting in prolonged life.
BS EN IEC 63146 exemplifies the requirements for specification sheets that help you achieve precision in terms of LED packages for general lighting.
