What is BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 about?
BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 is the third sub-part of the multi-series standard BS EN IEC 63203‑201. BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 specifies a test method for the determination of the electrical resistance of conductive fabrics under simulated microclimate within clothing.
The microclimate is the climate of the small air layer between the skin and clothing having a specific temperature and humidity. This test method can be applied to conductive fabrics including multilayer assemblies for use in clothing.
Who is BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 for?
BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 on the determination of electrical resistance of conductive textiles is relevant to:
- Electronic textile producers
- Electronic textile testing authorities
Why should you use BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3?
Wearable electronics are electronic devices constantly worn by a person as unassuming as clothing to provide intelligent assistance that augments memory intellect, creativity, communication, and physical senses. An electronic textile (e-textile) is a fabric developed with electricity and the use of various technologies.
The electronic textiles may be installed with sensors, batteries, LEDs, and hands-free computing devices, depending on the purpose of the fabric. An e-textile is usually created by including conductive materials in the fabric, for example, weaving a silver thread into cloth. BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 determines the electronic resistance of conductive textile under simulated microclimate on electronic textile.
BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3 helps to assess clothing comfort depending on the environmental conditions (humidity, temperature) of the microclimate between the skin and the fabrics when worn.
This test method under BS EN IEC 63203‑201‑3, you can perform the combined measurement of electrical resistance using the measurement principle of the four-wire Kelvin method and a DC current source, under a simulated microclimate. Kelvin method helps to eliminate any effect of fixture resistance to obtain a precise resistance that allows individuals to wear electronic devices safely. The test methods mentioned in this series enable you to deliver high-quality products and let you attain precision in terms of resistance.
