What is ISO 10140-5 about?
ISO 10140-5 is the fifth part of multiple series that specifies laboratory test facilities and equipment for sound insulation measurements of building elements, such as:
- Components and materials;
- Building elements;
- Technical elements (small building elements);
- Sound insulation improvement systems
It is applicable to laboratory test facilities with suppressed radiation from flanking elements and structural isolation between source and receiving rooms.
Who is ISO 10140-5 for?
ISO 10140-5 on acoustics laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements is useful for:
- Acoustic laboratory
- Construction industry
- Civil engineer
- Building contractor
- Investigator of acoustic
- Land surveyor of acoustic
Why should you use ISO 10140-5?
Prevent excessive reverberation and loudness inside occupied spaces. The first goal of ISO 10140-5 is to reduce excessive reverberation and loudness (flanking transmission) while the design and construction phase of the building. Flanking transmission is the structural transmission of sound energy from one room to another by any path other than the nominally separating wall or floor.
ISO 10140 (all parts) enables you to improve the layout for laboratory measurements, ensure
consistency and simplify future changes and additions regarding mounting conditions of test elements in laboratory and field measurements. ISO 10140 (all parts) aims at presenting a well-written and arranged format for laboratory measurements.
ISO 10140-5 aids laboratory test facilities and equipment for sound insulation measurements of building elements. ISO 10140-5 specifies qualification procedures that are useful for when commissioning a new test facility with equipment for sound insulation measurements by examining sound passing around over the top or under the primary partition separating two spaces by flanking transmission.
