What is ISO 11127-4 about?
ISO 11127-4 is the fourth part of the ISO 11127 series dealing with the sampling and test methods for non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives. ISO 11127-4 specifies a method of assessing whether a non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasive has a minimum hardness of 6 on the Mohs' scale.
The types of non-metallic abrasives and requirements on each are contained in the ISO 11126 series.
Note: The test described in ISO 11127-4 is a pass/fail test and is not a method for the accurate determination of hardness.
Who is ISO 11127-4 for?
ISO 11127-4 on the preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products is useful for:
- Paint Manufacturers
- Painters
- Steel furniture manufacturers
- Steel utensil manufacturers
- Steel décor manufacturers
- Designers of painted steel products
- Quality control personnel
- Architects and interior designers
Why should you use ISO 11127-4?
One way of identifying whether abrasives are suitable for a specific cleaning process is to look at their relative hardness. ISO 11127-4 provides a test method to assess whether a non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasive has a minimum hardness of 6 on the Mohs' scale. The test in ISO 11127-4 helps you to determine if a non-metallic blast-cleaning has passed the test of hardness.
Using the test described in ISO 11127-4 helps you to protect the steel substrate from damage.
