What is ISO 11296-7- Spirally-wound pipes for plastic piping system about?
ISO 11296-7 is the seventh part of a multi-series that discusses plastics piping systems for renovation of underground non-pressure drainage and sewerage networks.
ISO 11296-7 specifies requirements and test methods for pipes that are formed on-site by spirally winding and jointing a pre-manufactured profiled plastics strip, or a profiled plastics strip and integral locking joiner strip, and used for the renovation of underground non-pressure drainage and sewerage networks.
Note: ISO 11296-7 applies to spirally-wound pipes of fixed or variable diameter made of profiled plastics strips, with or without steel stiffening elements, and installed by one of two methods
Who is ISO 11296-7- Spirally-wound pipes for plastic piping system for?
ISO 11296-7 on plastics piping systems is applicable:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of spirally-wound pipes
- Construction industry
- Contractors
- Civil engineers
- Specifiers and installers
- Local bodies
Why should you use ISO 11296-7 - Spirally-wound pipes for plastic piping system?
The primary objective of plastic piping systems is to efficiently regulate underground water delivery networks. Appropriate appliance usage of fittings and pipes is crucial for the efficient functioning of the overall system which can minimize health risks and hygiene concerns.
The first method employs a dedicated winding machine in front of the open end of an existing pipeline, e.g. in a manhole. The pipes thus formed are simultaneously inserted into the existing pipeline by the winding forces, and by certain techniques can also be expanded in diameter after or during insertion. The second method employs a dedicated winding machine which forms the pipe as it traverses the existing pipeline from one manhole to the next.
The requirements and test methods under ISO 11296-7 can help you assess and evaluate material, physical, mechanical and geometrical characteristics of the specified pipes and fittings.
With compliance to ISO 11296-7, as a manufacturer of spirally-wound pipes, you can deliver high- quality pipes for easy and quick in-situ rehabilitation of underground non-pressure drainage and sewerage networks. With the right guidance, concerns of leakages and product failures can be minimized. Moreover, you can demonstrate the reliability and durability of your products by complying with the test methods.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 11296-7:2019 supersedes BS EN ISO 11296‑7:2013, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 11296-7:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 11296‑7:2013. These include:
- Thermoplastics has been added as a separate seam sealant material category
- The thickness range has been removed
- The requirement for Modulus of Elasticity has been lowered to reflect the current state of the art
- In Clause 6, ISO 10467 replaces EN 14364 as a normative reference for GRP saddles
- ISO 13262 replaces EN 1979 for tensile testing of a locked seam
