What is ISO 11432 about?
ISO 11432 specifies a method for the determination of the resistance to compression of sealants used in joints in buildings and civil engineering works.
Who is ISO 11432 for?
ISO 11432 on the determination of the resistance to compression of sealants is useful for:
- Manufacturers of sealants
- Contractors
- Civil engineers
Why should you use ISO 11432?
Sealants are used in construction to prevent fluids and other substances from passing through material surfaces, joints, or openings. They can also prevent the passage of air, sound, dust, insects, and so on, as well as acting as a fire-stopping component. ISO 11432 provides test methods to determine the resistance to compression of sealants.
ISO 11432 gives you information about the apparatus or materials used to test substrate material used for checking the dimensions of the sealant bead and the area of adhesion and the secant compression modulus is calculated.
Overall, ISO 11432 will enable you to manufacture and select high-quality sealants that provide flexibility, durability and strength against compression, for your specific engineering needs. Establishing structural integrity with standardised test performance and results will also enhance the reliability and credibility for your products and services.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 11432:2021 supersedes EN ISO 11432:2005. BS EN ISO 11432:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to EN ISO 11432:2005. These include:
- The title of the document has been modified
- The range of variation of extension rate has been changed to (5,5 ± 0,5) mm/min
- The range of variation of relative humidity has been changed to (50 ± 10) %.
