What is ISO 11680-2 about?
ISO 11680-2 is the second part of the multi-series standard ISO 11680.ISO 116802 that specifies safety requirements and measures for their verification for the design and construction of portable, hand-held, pole-mounted powered pruners with a backpack power unit (hereafter referred to as “machine”). These machines use a power transmission shaft to transmit power to a cutting attachment consisting of a combination of saw-chain and guide bar, a reciprocating saw blade, or a single-piece circular saw blade with a 205 mm (about twice the length of the long edge of a credit card) maximum outside diameter. Methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from the use of these machines and the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer are specified.
NOTE –
ISO 11680-2 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations, or hazardous events, except for electric shock from contact with overhead electric lines (apart from warnings and advice for inclusion in the instructions) and whole-body vibration from the backpack power unit, relevant to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are foreseeable by the manufacturer.
ISO 11680-2 is applicable to portable, hand-held, pole-mounted powered pruners with backpack power units manufactured after its date of publication.
Who is ISO 11680-2for?
ISO 11680-2 on machines for use with a backpack power sourceis is useful to:
- Powered pruners with a backpack power unit manufacturer
- Health and safety bodies Machine users/employers
- Powered pruners with a backpack power unit maintenance provider
Why should you use ISO 11680-2?
Agriculture and forestry equipment is the machinery that assists in the process of farming and forest activities, such as the cultivation of land, harvesting and collecting wood logs. Tractors, crop sprayers, rotators, harvesters, and skidders are the varieties of agriculture and forest machinery available in the market. ISO 11680-2 lists pole-mounted powered pruners with a backpack power unit.
ISO 11680-2 specifies safety requirements and measures for their verification for the design and construction.
ISO 11680-2 provides guidance regarding the harness to be used by the operator which will ensure that the machine can be removed or released quickly from the operator.
ISO 11680-2 describes the safe environment associated with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, boots, and eye and hearing protective equipment, as well as safe working procedures.
